Lawrence is an engineer, turned designer, turned consultant, turned founder.

He founded Pearl to increase the odds of overqualified and overlooked jobseekers landing their next job opportunities. He believes in a world where no one has to work twice as hard to get half as far, and believes that a hiring process that allows people to better showcase their unique strengths will move us closer to that goal.

Before Pearl, he worked at IBM for 6 years on enterprise-wide AI, culture, and design thinking efforts. His clients include Bank of America, Vodafone, Royal Bank of Scotland, and the SVP of IBM Cloud. As of 2021, his team's Team Essentials for AI certification course had badged over 20k+ people.

In 2020, he co-founded Tech Can [Do] Better, aimed at driving systemic racial change in the tech industry. Their message made it into Fast Company, Spectrum News, over 50 tech companies, and more. 

He’s based in Austin, Texas and is an avid reader, writer, skater, and a mean playlist curator.
